ТЕМА : ВРЯТУЄМО НАШУ ЗЕМЛЮ
МЕТА: розвивати уміння вживати лексику в діалогічному та монологічному мовленні.
Вчити учнів осмислювати і критично оцінювати отриманy інформацію. Використовувати можливості мови для пропаганди дбайливого ставлення до навколишнього середовища.
ОБЛАДНАННЯ: підручник, картки для самостійної роботи, слайди, запис пісні М Джексона ‘’Earth song’’.


ХІД УРОКУ.
I.Introduction.
We live in a magic world. The world is full of wonderful things. It’s our nature. Nature gives us life. Nature teaches us to be kind, clever, attentive and creative. It teaches us to understand the world around us. We are the happiest people because we can walk along seaside or listen to songs of the forest or the wind or the birds.
Y.Gagarin said;’’ How beautiful our blue planet is. How small it is. People of the world,  take care of it, protect it.’’
I want this poem to be the epigraph of our lesson.
                       Hug the Earth
Walking along, feeling free
Feeling the Earth near with me
And I love her and she loves me
I hug the Earth and she hugs me
She’s our kindest friend
We’d like to go together forever.

III. Aims of the lesson.
You see there a lot of problems in our life. Today at our lesson we’ll discuss one of them ‘’People and nature’’. During the lesson  we’ll  understand the reasons and try to find the way out of some problems of our world. We’ll  discuss the problem of relation between the people and nature, you’ll show your attitude to different ecological problems
you’ll  learn to bе active supporters of programs connected with environment.

VI. Speaking.
1. At the lesson some representatives of Green Peace organization are present and they want to address you.
 P. We are representatives of one of the most known international ecological organizations, which is called ‘’Green Peace’’. Our organization was founded in 1970 for protecting the ecology of our planet. The aim of its creation is in organization’s name. And really, the people who join the ‘Green Peace’ seek to keep the world clean , the environment green, to keep life on the Earth. Already after a year of its establishment the organization was recognized by the world  and after 25 years  its branches were opened in more than 50 countries. The main purpose of this organization is prevention of environment degradation. The first action of the ’Green  Peace’ was the organization of protest against the nuclear test on French island Moruroa in the Pacific ocean. During many years the organization ‘Green Peace’ is fighting for protection of all the  geographical spheres of the Earth. The protection of the tropical rainforest- ‘’the lungs’’ of the planet from the death is also the sphere of activity of the ‘Green Peace’.                    2. T. They have a letter and want to read it to you.                                                                        P. reads a letter.
‘Save our trees. Last week permission was given for the Wood Company to cut down the old trees at the end of Green Street. The land is needed for new offices and flats. Those trees are nearly two hundred years old. They were planted in the time of Olexa Dovbush.
Unless we do something  they will be cut down next week and three hundred years of
history will be destroyed. Letters have been written to the local council and a petition has been organized. A demonstration will be held at the trees on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. Please, come and support us. Save our trees.

5. There are some pictures of nature (animals, birds, plants, flowers, water ).Your task was to take one of them and write a petition on the topic ‘Save our Ukraine’.
P1. Every day there are more and more animals and plants which are in danger of becoming  extinct. Their natural habitats are destroyed by human activity. Forests are cleared for farming or housing. Oceans and rivers are polluted. Animals are hunted for different reasons. The World Wide Fund for Nature has made a list of endangered species. Pandas live  in the south-west of China. They are recognized by their black and white coats. They walk in four legs d climb the trees. They live in bamboo forests and eat bamboo. Bamboo forests  cleared for farming, so there is less bamboo for pandas. They are also killed for their coats. It is believed there are only about 2000 pandas left in the world.
P2. Dolphins live in warm waters. For example, in the Atlantic  Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. It swims 36 kilometers an hour and jumps three meters out of water. Dolphins are clever and kind animals. They are in danger because of pollution of the sea.
P3. The  African elephant is the largest animal in the world. Elephants are killed for their ivory tusks. The tusks are sold at the illegal market. The growing population of Africa makes it difficult for elephant herds to find the large area of land they need.
P4. Crocodiles are big animals which live in warm waters of Africa, South America and Australia. Crocodiles are in danger because people kill them for their skin. It is used for making shoes and bags.
P5. Deforestation is very dangerous for the Earth, because less and less oxygen is  being produced. Our only hope is forests along the Amazon River, which are called ‘the lungs of the Earth’. They produce more than two thirds of all oxygen in the world.
T. Speaking about ecological problems we can not but mention the problems of our village. What are they. Let’s see the presentation prepared by Pasishnyk Kate.
Slide 1.We live in Maksymivka. It is a very beautiful village situated near the hill Pyvykha and the Kremenchuk reservoir. It is especially nice in spring when everything is in blossom. But  there are many ecological problems.                                                              Slide 2.
There are different kinds of trees and flowers in and near Maksymivka. But today they are disappearing. People cut down trees and pick up flowers –snowdrops and forget-me-nots. If forests extinct ,birds and animals may become extinct too.         
Slide 3.                                                                                                                                  Maksymivka is known by the hill Pyvykha. There is a small and very old spring. Once it was clean and people could drink water from it. It is a pride of our village .Today it is polluted.
Slide 4.                                                                                                                                                              Earlier on the place of the Kremenchuk reservoir was our village .Today there is a beach where we have a good rest- swim, sunbathe and play games. But after different holidays, which are celebrated there and on weekends tourists leave a lot of trash. It gets into the water and pollutes it.
Slide 5.                                                                                                                                      Another problem is poaching. Fishmen catch fish during the spawning period. This  leads to reducing of some species of fish. Almost every year Cherkasy chemical plant ‘Azot’ throws its wastes the reservoir and we have poisonous water which looks yellow and fish dies.
Slide 6.                                                                                                                                                                The other problem is our dump. There people throw everything- plastic, glass, papers and sometimes food. Plastic packages are flying in the air or hang in trees. It is not very attractive view. This trash makes harm to our soil.
Slide 7.                                                                                                                                                                 The forest and flowers make our district very beautiful. But activity of people kills nature and in time, in spring we will not see snowdrops and young grass. In summer when are thirsty we can’t find a spring because it will disappear. So we must take care of our environment.
Slide 8.                                                                                                                                                        Take care of nature.
Feed birds and help them especially in winter.
Don’t pick up wild flowers and plants from Red Data Book.
Recycle used materials.
Clean rivers and springs.
Keep our yards clean.
Slide 9.                                                                                                                                                         Remember the wise advice of famous English writer John Galsworthy who said ‘If you 
don’t think about future , you will not have it’.

VIII. Summing up.
You have to prove that people are friends of nature ( we plant trees, we look after birds ,animals ,we reuse some things like bottles ,bags ect.)
